Are you suffering from shoulder pain in
New York City?

You need to be strong for your life. If shoulder pain is keeping you from training in the box, preventing your laps in the pool, or it’s painful to even carry your groceries home, help is on the way. Try the tips in our free shoulder guide – Ending Shoulder Pain – and start feeling better today!

There are many causes for shoulder pain (overhead weight lifting, repetitive strain/overuse, trauma). However, the impact is often the same: pain with movement, lifting, difficulty dressing, limited range of motion, and even disturbed sleep. Whether you’re a Crossfitter or a mother of three, we can help you get back to what you love, and caring for those you love.

Shoulder Pain Got You Sidelined?

There are many causes of shoulder pain:

  • Overuse
  • Muscle imbalance
  • Poor posture
  • Improper lifting technique
  • Aging
  • Poor sleeping position
  • Prior trauma

And that’s to name just a few. Sometimes, you know exactly why you’re having the symptoms you’re having. And sometimes, it’s not clear why you’re having shoulder pain or what caused it. But it becomes clear – the impact on your life is significant.

Shoulder pain has a way of sneaking up and robbing you blind. Suddenly, the simplest of activities in your daily life become challenging: washing your hair, getting dressed, carrying groceries, or even just getting a good night’s sleep. And all of those things that you really enjoy – like playing tennis, going to yoga, lifting in the gym, picking up your kids? They become unimaginable. But it’ll go away, right?

Sound Familiar?

Shoulder pain can sometimes be easy to ignore, until it’s impossible to ignore. We often hear “I’ve just been living with this pain” and “I thought it would just go away by itself”. So, some questions come to mind:

“How long has your pain been going on?”

And…

“What have you done for your pain before now?”

The answers may sound familiar. Many people have been dealing with their back pain for months and years. And what have they done for it? Most often: Nothing. But it stands to reason: If you do Nothing you’ll get Nothing. Maybe the pain “wasn’t that bad”, or it went away on it’s own before – but it’s just not going away.

What Is This Costing You?

For some, it’s the fear of not knowing what it will cost to have your shoulder pain addressed. However, the greater question is – “What is it costing you to NOT fix it?”. What is it costing you in lost sleep, extra days off from work, decreased productivity? Is it costing you time away from your family, lost time playing with the kids? Or are you still paying for your gym membership, unable to workout or go to class?

We understand you may be afraid of surgery, or living a life dependent on taking pills. But what if you just took 5 minutes each day to try one of the tips in our free guide – Ending Shoulder Pain? What if one exercise made you feel 10% better? What if you could meet with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and get some questions answered? Aside from our guide, we also offer a free 30-minute “No-Sweat” Discovery Visit to do just that.

What are the symptoms of shoulder pain?

Common symptoms of shoulder pain include sudden warmth or redness in your shoulder. This is usually accompanied by either a sharp, stabbing sensation or a more persistent dull ache. Sharp pain is often associated with acute injuries like a torn rotator cuff or a dislocated shoulder. Dull pain is more common with chronic conditions such as tendinitis, bursitis, or arthritis. The pain may be localized to a specific area of the shoulder or spread across a larger region elsewhere on the body, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact source. Your shoulder pain can also be accompanied by neck, arm, or back pain.

It’s also common to hear a clicking, popping, or grinding sensation when you move your arm. These sounds, known as crepitus, can occur when the structures in the shoulder joint, like the tendons, ligaments, or cartilage, are damaged or inflamed.

What is our approach to fixing shoulder pain?

We work with many people who have shoulder pain. If you’re one of those people, you’ve probably already tried various treatment options. You’ve likely taken painkillers or Tylenol, used ice packs, maybe gone for a massage, or seen an acupuncturist. These treatments might have provided short-term relief but may not have given you the long-term solutions you need.

Shoulder pain can prevent you from doing many things you want to do. It’s not just the bigger activities; even daily tasks like getting dressed, reaching for something on a high shelf, or putting on a jacket can be difficult. It can also keep you from going to the gym, attending a yoga class, or playing with your kids.

We help many people with shoulder pain using a multi-pronged approach. We examine the mechanics of your shoulder, look at how everything works together, and then gradually reload your system to improve the strength and stability of your shoulder.

We truly believe that we can help you with your shoulder pain. If you want to know more about our services, give us a call and we would be more than happy to talk through the options available to you.
